Oliver Lindberg went from doing thesis work at ABB to being a trainee. Today he works full-time with automation and control systems in the ABB Process Industries division. During this journey, there was one thing that really surprised him.
Oliver Lindberg on...
...working with brand new technology:
“The most exciting part about my role is that I get to work with next-generation technology and be a part of shaping the control systems of the future.”
...one thing that has surprised me about ABB:
“I was really surprised by the high rate of innovation within ABB. Especially around sustainability.”
… the ABB Discovery trainee program:
“I think some people believe that a trainee position is only for people who want to get into a leadership role. But at ABB there really is a diverse mix of people accepted into the program. The trainees move on to be developers, project leaders, marketers as well as leaders. One of the best things about the trainee program is that you get the chance to try out different positions and areas of the company.”
… my best advice for someone thinking about applying to a trainee program:
“My advice would be to be really open with your own interests and don´t try to fit into some preconceived notion of what you think a trainee should be like. And once you are in the program, take the opportunity to try out different roles. There are so many possibilities.”
...contributing to a sustainable future:
“I work with many industries as clients that traditionally have been big polluters. Industries that really need help transforming their operations. And because ABB is such a player, I feel like I can make a real difference.”
… The best thing about working at ABB...
“The best thing about working at ABB is that you get to learn from, and interact with, people from all over the world. New opportunities come to you naturally and there is just so much to discover.”
